“Even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.”
Paul and the Philippian church, like all believers, have a symbiotic relationship. To the Philippian church, Paul is a spiritual father and front-line missionary. They draw joy from his infectious, untiring zeal, and from the joy he himself has in seeing the gospel prevail in an unwelcoming world. To Paul, the Philippians are proof of the fruitfulness of the gospel for which he daily suffers. They are his financial supporters, his prayer partners, his fellow ministers, and his beloved friends. But most importantly, they are his fellow heirs; fellow recipients of the joy of knowing Christ.
And in Philippians 2:17-18, Paul makes a plea that I think ought to define the relationship between every church and missionary: “Share your joy with me.” As Paul labors for the gospel in prison, he wants to hear news of those who live the wake of the Gospel, those whose lives are being transformed by the power of Christ. He has shared with them God’s work through him, even through many trials, and he wants to hear of God’s power at work among the Philippians.
I’m excited today to introduce you to a new tool at Christ Baptist to help us share this joy with those laboring abroad: the Interactive Missions Board.
This new interactive touchscreen, located at the missions bulletin board near the coffee station, allows you to watch video updates sent back from our mission teams and missionaries around the world. You can also sign up for prayer newsletters, find new ways to support our missions program, and even sign up for a trip, all from the board! And soon you’ll be able to send video snippets back to our partners in the field. Share your joy with them, and let them share their joy with you.
The board will be refreshed frequently, so make sure you check back often to hear the latest from our international partners.
