2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness...6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. Titus 2:2, 6-8
Discipleship is a calling for all followers of Jesus. Jesus spent his ministry building a relationship with and discipling twelve men for them to disciple others. Discipleship occurs naturally through relationships and involves:
- Training the basics of the Christian faith: Salvation, The Church, Bible Study, and Spiritual Disciplines
- Admonishing or calling one another to faith and repentance
- Edifying
- Teaching sound doctrine (theology)
- Training in evangelism, leadership, and apologetics
- Making disciples who make disciples
- Equipping men to practice spiritual disciplines
